USB memory stick problem

Hello,

When I plugged my USB memory stick into the pc, WindowsXP showed that it recognized the USB stick and installed the driver properly.

However, I couldn't find the drive in 'My computer' panel. What kind of problem do I have?

Right click my computer.

Select Manage.

In the right left hand plane of the window that appears, select disk management.

Find your drive in the diagram, right click it and select assign a drive letter.

I try to acces my usb stick and it says it is not formated,and when i try to format it(fat or fat32) it says windows was unable to......).Please help.
