USB2.0 device needs rewiring ?

Hi m8s

I have a Soltek motherboard that has 2 USB1.1’s to the back off my PC and an additional 2 USB1.1’s mounted on a back plate.

I also have a 4+1 USB2.0 PCI card fitted.

QUESTION
I have just purchased a 3.5” bay, media card reader and 1 port USB2.0 drive.

When I ordered it I thought that it would have a USB type A plug on it, so that I could plug it directly into my USB2.0 PCI card.

But it doesn’t it has the PI-Header type connection that connects to my motherboard.

This is all well and good, but it means that the media card reader will be a USB1.1.

So, is it possible the rewire the PI-Header plug to 2x USB type A plugs, as below

Red: + 5V
White: USB -
Green: USB +
Black: GND > these wires to USB plug

Orange: + 5V
Yellow: USB –
Blue: USB +
Black: GND > these wires to USB plug

(I also have a wiring diagram for the USB type A plug)

And then by using my 1 into 4 USB2.0 hub attached internally connected to my USB2.0 PCI card, connecting the above 2 plugs.

And hopefully job done.

Will this be possible

Thanks in advance
