usbto serial dadpter

  1. installed a usb to serial adapter, but will not rec the hardware and fails to start, was a syba unit with moschip software any ideas? trying to run a singer sewing machine on the usb to free up the serial.

    Er, absolutely no ideas without knowing what version of windows you are using??????????

    The usb-to-serial converter should come with a device drive for Windows to recognise & use it. If the hardware connected to the "virtual" serial port does not work with this converter (which happens more often than not), you might need to look into a PCI card with extra serial ports, those tend to work better then usb-to-serial dongles.

    i am running xp sp2 and the idea of another card is waht i was thinking, too bad the adapters dont work better as they give you extra lenght for cables as well as fairly compact, well i guess i will email newegg for rma and look for anohter pci card. thanks
