Use ATA for extra storage with OS compiled on SATA?

I am Using 2 Raptor SATA dirves configured in Raid 0 on the VIA Raid controller. I am wondering if I can Install a not so old 80GB ATA drive to use for storage of MP3 files and the like. My MB has connectors for four SATA drives (2 Via and 2 Promise) and MB connections for ATA drives as well. The MB is ASUS A8V Deluxe. Will the SATA and ATA drives be able to communicate? I would like to be ble to access the ATA drive from the XP boot OS located on the SATA drive. If This is not possible would SATA drives configured on the VIA controller be able to communicate with Sata drives configured on the Promise controller. Thanks for your help!

you should not have any problem I had a sata drive for OS and a IDE drive for storage for a while before getting another sata drive for storage.
