Vertical lines on Monitor-Display Error

  1. My guess is the Video card is semi-pooched!!It is a 6 year old GeForce V6600.
    My computer is a P3 667.What would a good replacement card of at least equal or better performance be?

    It could be the monitor that is at fault if its as old as your pc!!!!

    I did an autopsy on the system--It was real dusty--vidcard fan just caked-cleaned it started up comp--Sniff tested---That distinct odor of melting plastic wire insulation!!!
    However the Vertical lines are gone .The display is fine for internet surfing---but will not run games!!!
    Conclusion---new card
