very odd situation

OK here is the situation:
- to comps linked directly together(crossover cable)
- one has a dialup connection
- the other is sharing that connection

this network worked fine. couple days ago i enabled the lan connection to use the dialup connection from the other computer. it connected and i can see the dialup connection working. the problem is that when i opened internet explorer it cannot open anything(no internet). here is the interesting thing - i have limewire and i can connect and download stuff but the internet does not work on internet explorer.

Give Firefox whirl and see how that performs.

Your DNS configuration is most likely wrong. Could be a firewall issue too.

How is Internet Explorer configured to connect to the internet?
Is it set to use a lan connection, or is it still looking for a modem? Is it trying to automaticly detect the settings? Either disable/enable this to see if it does any difference...
