VFAT device initialization failed

  1. My computer that I am trying to work on is a Toshiba Satellite 2210CDT.
It is factory specs, except I added 128 ram to it. I am trying to run windows 98se, but this blue screen of death came up.
    VFAT device initialization failed.
a device or resource required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable VFAT cannot continue loading.
    system halted.
I do not know what to do about this and have not found another thread like this. It also gave me a different error on a second boot up try.
    while initializing device VPICD:
windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.

After this I tried rebooting but it comes up with one of the two problems.
