video problems

I have a Dell Inspiron 4550 thats about 4 years old. In the last month or so it started slowing down and odd problems began happening like outlook not allowing me to access my in box and slow operation. I have an anti virus program that didn't find anything. Then all of the sudden my monitor (Samsung LCD) went blank. I turned it off and back on and it just flashed the desktop for a second. I plugged back in the old View Sonic monitor and it displays, but its very hazy and looks like someone turned the brightness all the way up. I upgraded the ram to 512 and installed a new video card (Rage fury/pro 2000. The pc runs faster but the video is still screwed up. The kid at the computer store told me I had to go in to bios and disable the old video card. All I could see was AGP and auto. I selected auto. Any held would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

How about trying this:
- Right click on My Computer.
- Choose Device Manager.
- Under Display Adapter, right click on your old drive and disable it.
- Restart your computer and see if it works.
