Virus on my dad's machine - Hijackthis Log File

  1. Hi all

My dad has a virus on his machine that has a red background and a pop up saying "your privacy is in danger....." and i can't get rid of it. I've seen this virus last year and managed to clear it by booting up in Safe Mode, running antivirus software, CClean and then running Hikejackthis (after changing the .exe to Crusty). However, this time i just can't get rider of the URL forward which i can see in the log as:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page.....

After i "fix it" it just keeps coming back when in normal mode. Am i missing something?

    Many thanks,
    Millsey5

There's a folder inside the windows folder named your_privacy or privacy_danger, open the folder and delete the images. Or install a good adware spyware program like spyware nuker 2006

    Hello
Many thanks for you quick reply jeff968. Did you have time to look at the attached log files? If so do they look okay apart from this line:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page.....

    ?

    Many thanks,
