I was having some symptoms from a so-called "VideoCodec" for the past 2 days. It changed my background to one big hyperlink (active desktop maybe?) and spammed the $#!t out of me with pop-up ads for rogue programs and "your privacy is at risk" type messages. I followed the instructions outlined in the "Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions" thread. Now, things seem to have cleared up, but I want to make sure everything is 100% gone so here are my log files.

Because it was in safe mode, I could not line up the AVG Anti-Spyware program to save a log, however the scan resulted in a "No Infections Found." The Panda Antiroot scan said that it didn't find anything as well.

I would appreciate knowledge of what I need to do now with HJT or anything else or if I am cleared up. Thanks in advance for your support in this matter.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Did you deliberately install the Cybersitter software? If you didn`t, try and uninstall it if you can.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the code box below into it:
NOTE* make sure to only highlight and copy what is inside the quote box nothing out side of it.
Also ..

Pay particular attention to this :-

Make sure the word File:: is on the first line of the text file you save (no blank line above it, & no space in front of it)
Code:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\sapnet.dll
C:\WINDOWS\rmvgor.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\gcxaxuemauxa.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3d9caps.dat
C:\WINDOWS\rmvgor.dll
C:\WINDOWS\nethop.exe
C:\WINDOWS\msdownld.tmp
C:\Documents and Settings\Ben Smith\Application Data\wklnhst.dat
C:\WINDOWS\popnetmtq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\jokwmp.dll

Folder::
C:\VundoFix Backups

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{6A78E352-B1FA-4C18-9C48-96DD03979770}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar]
"{6BA27973-068D-4F85-BE84-1251E0B20FD3}"=-
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{6BA27973-068D-4F85-BE84-1251E0B20FD3}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jokwmp.ToolBar.1]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{83AFF385-2051-4ADA-8001-549F0A671402}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jokwmp.ToolBar]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad]
"sapnet"=-
"rmvgor"=-

Save this as CFScript.txt

Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

CFScript.gif

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a fresh HJT log.

Combofix is saying that it is expired/outdated and uninstalls itself. Any way i can fix this/get the newset version?

Ok, do this instead.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from HERE. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply, as well as a fresh HJT log.

Regards Howard :)

I didn't want to run this without being sure so heres what is happening. When I put the file into avenger and choose to run, i get the first confirmation message to which i click "yes". It then proceeds to tell me there are errors in the script. It allows you to log these errors so I attached this error log onto this post.

I have replaced the Avenger script in my post above. Please try running that instead.

Sorry things just seem to keep not going right on my end. :( I got the same type of error messages this time. This error log was shorter then the 1st one so things should be heading in the right direction

That`s looking much much better, but we still have a few things to do.

Did you deliberately install the Cybersitter software? If not, uninstall it.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {6A78E352-B1FA-4C18-9C48-96DD03979770} - C:\WINDOWS\popnetmtq.dll (file missing)

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or folders(if there).

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\gyjmhuqy.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\uovtevms.sys
C:\WINDOWS\popnetmtq.dll
C:\qmtqjlpy.bat
C:\bxuewabo.bat

Click start/run and type regedit into the runbox and hit the enter key.

Navigate to the following reg keys and delete the bold portion(if there).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{6A78E352-B1FA-4C18-9C48-96DD03979770}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\xjxqeiwo

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\evetwvey

Close regedit.

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh Main.txt

This is the third time I`ve asked you: Did you deliberately install the Cybersitter software?

Your log file looks clean.

Did you uninstall Cybersitter properly?

See HERE.

The reason I ask, is there`s a lot of left over CyberSitter files on your system.
