should be a help file for program to show you options for recording
as in frame rate (pal or ntsc)
    mpeg 1 or 2
    avi as a mpeg4
other types svcd ,vcd all use mpeg or mpg as extension
    res size options can very

not sure what you mean by extension gone
if you make it something other than dvd compliant it will no have the vob extension
you want it avi the extension will change to foo.avi??

if wen u rename a vob file and it states .vob at the end... if u type .mpeg it will switch over to a viewable file. but i founda program by cucusoft that does like any conversions but ty neways

thats because the container is VOB the file has been encoded mpeg
this will not always hold true if you don't have the codec installed on machine will not read it correctly.
vob is for the older stand alone dvd players to read
this allows the addition of graphic menu's and buttons (controls)
