What is the total size of the drive you want to partition?
  3. ragez0r Newcomer, in training

    80 gb hd...

hmm post too short.. need 10 characters.. this should do it.. lol
  4. Tmagic650 TechSpot Ambassador

How much free space is left on the 80GB?
  5. ragez0r Newcomer, in training

    23 gb on the nose
  6. Tmagic650 TechSpot Ambassador

What exactly do you have on that drive? Movies? Music?
  7. ragez0r Newcomer, in training

honestly i dunno.. mostly programs and games.. my movies and music is on another hard drive

I don't think there's much overhead left on that drive to let Partition Magic do what you want. I have 21.5GB free space left on my Seagate 80GB. You can install a fresh drive and partition it the way you need. Then reinstall Windows XP and Windows Vista on that drive

    look up paragon PM
it will free up the space you need and create your 16gb's for you
it can do this on reboot so the OS dos not interfer
    acronis will do to

tmagic650: how much room do i need to partition a 16 gig chunk ?

samstoned: im guessing paragon pm is another form of pm.. cuz i have powerquest pm...ill look for it..thank u

The programs documentation will tell you how much room you will need

partition magic will work with low clearance drives. I partitioned a 55gb drive with only 10gb left on it.
  13. Tmagic650 TechSpot Ambassador

    Tedster,
were you able to create a 10GB partition using the remaining free space?
  14. ragez0r Newcomer, in training

    no only 6 gb

so... it appears ive stumped every1 huh ? could it be the software company that made this partition magic ? i think this 1 is powerquest
  16. Tmagic650 TechSpot Ambassador

    Paragon Partition Manager about $100
(Powerquest) Symantec/Norton Partition Magic about $70

k .. and i paid 0.. hehe wats yer point... so im guessing i gotta try the other partition magic ?
  18. Tmagic650 TechSpot Ambassador

Just for information purposes. They both look like good programs. I think they have free trial periods, but I'm not sure if the trials are full operating programs. Are you saying that you have used one? Powerquest must have sold their program to Symantec
