Want to build a Dbot to protect IOT?

IOT botnets prove there is a way to defeat IOT botnets. They all rely on default passwords and easy access. Has anyone built a bot that opens insecure devices, changes the default password to a secure password and then spreads? Government is always incapable, companies have no incentive and consumers don't care. Yet the potential damage from insecure devices increases exponentially every day. Sure there is risk in spreading one, but it's NOTHING compared to the damage that can, will and is being done already. Who can and will build such a DBot (as in defense bot)?

As a defense BOT?? just change the admin/pwd and/or the port for remote access!!

This proposal is to build a self-replicating password changing virus that would spread automatically. Any consumer "could" change every IOT password, But the existence, survival and spread of self-replicating botnet viruses show that few actually do.

True enough. But the solution is NOT to create a BOT to do this. To do so imo is aiding and abetting in a criminal act.

The risk, danger and potential losses of not doing it is staggering. Government won't do anything, manufacturers could care less and consumers only care that their silly devices turn on. Criminal to change default passwords when no one else will? The risk/reward balance is crystal clear. Maybe someone who is knowledgable will read this and respond.

The owner of the device(s) are responsible. Unless they take that seriously, then their homes are subject to invasion and ransacking.

Irresponsible owners will be subject to having their passwords changed for them. They will then, in large numbers, contact the manufacturers for customer service/replacements, forcing manufacturers to provide far more secure software and simpler interfaces to protect their profits and public image. None of which will happen until Dbots are built and widely released.

Opinion & Speculation. We have fines for using cell phones while driving but we still see that multiple times per day.
