Want to use second computer

I dont know much about computers so I dont know much about my computer specs ,but is there a way to restart my computer completly without geting past the username , password screen.I'm willing to lose all files.

It would kind of help if you told us what operating system we are talking about here. Is it DOS, Linux, Windows 98, Windows XP, Solaris, Plan 9, QNX, whatever?

It would be easiest to simply put in whatever OS you are wanting to load, and restart the computer. Go into your BIOS and set your CD-Rom as your first boot. Then save and exit, once restarting it should boot from CD, from there you can format and reinstall.
