Wanted popup screens being blocked...HELP

My wanted popup screens (ie. payment screens, video, clicked links,...) are being blocked by I don't know what. I've turned off the windows blocker (I run XP MediaCenter). I don't have other software installed that I know of. I've run a virus/malware detector to no avail. The popup will pop up, but it will not load. In google it tells me a blocker is running, but the only one I know of is off. Is there another place to look? Is it a virus? Help me out guys...I appreciate your wisdom!

On IE Browser if you click on Tools then Popup Blocker you can click on popup-blocker setting and add the sites you want not to be blocked.

I've tried that

I have placed several sites on the do not block list, but it still just opens a new window with no page in it. Any other ideas?

You may be running another blocker on your system. Post a HijackThis log (download from my signature) as an attachment and I'll help you check.

Hi,

I've checked that log, nothing seems to be the problem. You may wish to check your hosts file to see if the sites have been entered there. If they are they need to be removed.

Please download this file HERE.
Open it, and extract the Hosts file into this folder:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

Note: it goes into the ETC folder, not a folder of its own in the ETC folder.
When prompted to replace your hosts file, click Yes.

Let me know how it goes after that.

I extracted the files...what am I looking for? There are some files that are labeled as Trojan loader, or malicious...can I delete these somehow? or would you rather just see it?

your hjt log is out of date. the version you need is "hijackthis v_2"
you can get the up to date version by clicking on this in my signature or Momoks, 'hijackthis'. or HERE

don't forget to change the name of hjt, eg, C:/programme files/hijackthis/analyser v_2.exe

Are you referring to the hosts file? If you are, those sites are there that are specified for blocking if you happen to visit whether purposefully or by accident.

How is the legit popups coming along?
