Hey,
I have AGP version 3.0 slots and I was lookin to buy a new gx card for about $250 can anyone point me towards a good cad for around $250

What kind of gaming do you want to do?

Hard-core ( F.E.A.R, Oblivion, Battlefield series )
General gaming ( Solitare, Hearts, Minesweeper :haha: )

If you really want to game spend your money on upgrades like the Mobo to a x16 PCI-E bus slot, Atleast a 2.0GHz CPU ( so you can run smoothly ), 1-2 Gigs of RAM ( depending on how much money you want to spend )

Motherboard:

Processor:

RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145566

Total: $317 with shipping, Not too high over your main budget and you can get a better videocard

Also if you get this set make sure your Case can hold a Micro ATX mobo

But if you want to stick with your AGP videocard I dont know your speed ( x2 / x4 or x4 / x8 ) so I cant help you there but go to www.newegg.com and there is really cheap AGP videocards for about $150 that will let you play any game.

Here is a ATI videocard:

Here is a nVidia videocard:

Hope I helped, If you have any questions just ask :D

Tell us the name and model of your motherboard and we can tell you if it has a 4x AGP slot or 8x AGP slot.

I would highly expect it is an 8x AGP slot, since 4x AGP is really old now.

Once you confirm that you have an 8x AGP slot (which it probably is), go ahead and get one of the above suggestions.

I would recommend a GeForce 6600GT. I and my sons have had excellent results with them- really good for AGP cards. Just my 2 cents-

I would recommend a GeForce 6600GT. I and my sons have had excellent results with them- really good for AGP cards. Just my 2 cents- although I hear there is a 7800 series- have no experience with it, though http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046

Yeah that is true. But for now, the 7800GS is king. For best bang-for-buck, I recommend the X800XT/X850XT. They're pretty powerful cards and can run most games out there maxed out. But they do not have SM3.0 support so they're not too future proof. But they're great cards nevertheless.

All the 6 series GeForce cards have SM 3.0 support but yeah, it's the last thing I expected PCI to support. I also thought it would be the best available for PCI, until the X1300 PCI was released ;).

Theres a 128-Bit X1300 PCI now.

There is a 256 and 512MB AGP X1950PRO available on zipzoomfly.com :)
