WD my book

I recently had a WD my book hard drive that stopped being recognized in my computer... I have had two people try to scan the hard drive and were unsuccessful. I contacted a data retrieval service and I did find out that WD does encrypt their hard drives so it's impossible to get the information off of the hard drive once you remove it from the casing... I found a board on here that someone was going to use another my book to see put the hd in and see if that worked... She never followed up so u called the data retrieval service again and found out that it is possible to use a working my book with the same encryptions on the usb connector to get the hard drive to read again!! So has anyone actually done this and had success???
