Webroot antivirus flags key Windows files as malware, chaos ensues

So the anti-malware program did its job correctly flagging windows 10 an facebook as malware. What is wrong here?

We had multiple clients report very important software was getting quarantined by Webroot. This created a lot of work for us so lets hope Webroot figures out what happened! Webroot has been great until now. :/

Webroot has always been a piece of malware itself. No competent IT company in the world would use that junk.

Yeah as an IT guy, I can tell you that's simply not true. The makers of Webroot actually came up with a completely unique (and advanced) way of scanning for viruses that is so different from the norm, 3rd party antivirus testers disclude Webroot from tests because they say it wouldn't be a fair comparison. When Webroot is tiny, powerful, and freaken fast. It deserves a certain amount of respect assuming stuff like this doesn't happen too often.

And the most secure and stable OS from MS to date.
Not sure where all this Windows telemetry backlash is coming from. Almost every piece of software and business spies on you.

Selling your data for profit is what bothers me more than a company using analytics to improve their product since no one wants calls from someone asking you to do it manually over the phone at dinner time.

Take a look at Spybot Anti-Beacon. I use the portable version on every Windows 7 (and later) machine I come across. It does a very good (and quick!) job of blocking all leaks of information. I've seen other apps out there that do this but they have always had ads, weren't portable, or weren't blocking everything.
