Weekend Open Forum: Do you exercise regularly?

Except for going to office I walk everywhere, roughly (never bothered to count TBH) I walk around 20 +/- KMs each week. Until last year I played football (I.e. soccer for well you know who:) ), cricket 3/4 days a week, and squash occasionally. But since getting married last year, I haven't been able to maintain that routine :(

A late congratulations from me! ;) (If it applies. :p)

On-topic: I exercise daily, mainly something similar to an inmate-style (a.k.a. Jason Statham) workout. Other workouts are covered mostly by preferring the stairs to the elevator (8 floors, transversed usually 4 times).
Despite the general belief of enthusiast hackers living a sedentary life, most of us, I've observed, are actually leaning to the skinnier side.
I was never really a sports-person. Well, TBH, my medical condition prevents me from doing any intense sports (ex. Football). I do enjoy the occasional squash with friends though.
Other than that, it's Tai-chi, Zen-meditation for the mind (if it counts), sometimes Kendo, Keysi Fighting Method (inspired by Batman(y)) and other martial arts like Aikido focusing on balance, mental strength, and energy conservation.

Anyone similar?

As far as sports go...I went to a very small highschool where I was the star at several sports. I got to college and realized I actually sucked so I gave up sports for weightlifting.

Heh, funny how that works. I too went to a small HS. Graduated with 42? others. Even just low key stuff like intramural sports are filled with pretty damn good athletes. College sports, on an official level, its insane how good those people are, even at a div 2 school that I went to.

Yes, I exercise regularly, about once every three months.

Heh.

I exercise very irregularly. Used to be a lot better before my second child was born, but he's 2 year old now and I haven't exercised regularly in this time.

I still go to karate practice once every couple of weeks, but that's about it. I plan to take my daughter (who's almost 4) to folk dancing to see if she likes it, and perhaps get some minimal exercise that way. I used to dance a lot but haven't in a while.

Yeah I have a strenuous workout everyday from morning to evening.
Everyday I manage to rack up a couple of kilometres worth in mouse movement, I also practise "finger tapping" for most of the day. Most of this training regiment takes supreme consentration and stamina. After this I practise my mental abilities with subroutines, functions, API calls and UI design.

I just ate.
Exercising? Nope, not me. Only meaningful "exercise" is the 30min walk I take every morning to work. When I come back home, I usually get a lift.
OK, done this, now gonna eat some more.

p.s. does smoking count? I guess not...:(

Not as much as I would like to. However while camping last year I decide to jog back to the tent from the beach and almost collapsed with my heart going all funny on me. Got checked out but didn't find anything...It was really scary though, and has put me off doing anything like jogging again.

Despite having an 'average' weight I'm still one of the most unfit people in the country sadly.

I go to the gym 3+ times a week to weight train, as well as jog or swim for cardio at least twice a week. My eating habits are bleh tho

if you exercise but find yourself still overweight, here's a tip: cut the carbs!!! You will see results.

Bah, you can bike in the snow. I've done it many times.

Because you're a crazy man :p

Everyday except holiday, mix of running, swimming and weight lifting.

Eating right and some cardio is way more important than strength training which is what most people think of when they hear exercise. Can't figure out why all this strength training isn't causing you to lose that belly? Well it's probably because you can't spend a combined hr or two per day to prepare a proper meal. But hey, something is better than nothing I guess...

I try.. Mowing the lawn takes me 2 hrs I have a lot to mow.. Now using 40V 4amp Lion one fun to use.. Get enough doing that once a week.. Plus other actives..

I don't exercise regularly, but I regularly exercise... my right to be lazy. :D

I get enough exercise, martial arts classes 3 times a week, Japanese swordsman classes 2 times a week, and at least a 5 mile walk once a week. Oh yeah, the occasional phone call from my Mom, hey Son can you please run the lawn mower and maybe rake the leaves and oh yeah, trim the roses bushes, along with my own yard work, I get enough exercise.

I do weights 3 times a week and play semi-organised basketball twice a week. Also walk about 40 mins a day (10 mins from home to station and 10 mins from station to office).
