Ok, so I have a portugues keyboard installed on my computer. And used a word in portugues which has a character that does not exist on my keyboard. I accidently clicked switch user and when I did the portugues keyboard dissappeared. I know the password just do not have a way to type in one character, the ç. Any ideas?

Have a look at the Character Map:
All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map> click on the arrow point to the right of the dialog box for Character Set to get the drop-down choices. Select the one that matches your character type.
If you find the character: click on it> Select> Copy> paste where you want it.
