Westell dsl modem to d-link wireless router no internet connection

Hello everyone, I am staying in a military run inn with a westell model 2200 dsl modem. The problem for me is my Ethernet port on my laptop doesn't work. So today I bought a d-link 605L wireless router. I've hooked everything up as per the instructions, but I get no internet connection even though my computer thinks there is one. The problem is that the ISP (which is the air force base) isn't any help. The guy at the help desk was clueless. I'm assuming I have conflicting IP's or I need to have them bridged, but I don't know how to do that if I can't wire in to the modem. Any help would be a life saver. I've got a big school project coming up and my phone hotspot isn't going to cut it.
