  1. I finally decided to say goodbye to DOS, and move from Win 98 to XP.

But I got the sad news that my PC doesn't meet the requirements.

    Item Required On My PC

    Speed 500 MHz 450 MHz (P-III)

RAM 64 MB 128 MB (ok)

Video Ram 16 MB 4 Mb (bad !!)

    Video Adaptor S3 Inc. Trio3D/2V1.00.16

Video Adaptor Type S3 Inc. Trio3D

Is there anything I can do without buying a whole new motherboard ?

    I doubt it

It's time for a complete new system.Yours was probably built before XP
    was born.

Best time to purchase Windows XP computers from the retailers. Most are getting rid of them to replace with the Vista's computers. Get them while on sale and while they last.

    Silver lining

    Thanks, Michael.

As the old saying goes, 'There's a silver lining behind every dark cloud'.

I'll cash in on your pointer.
