I got here when I searched Google to see if SpeedFix was legitimate and safe. Saw a logical answer was no. Are there any ways I can make my laptop stop taking forever, often seem to halt altogether? Thanks! I was thinking of going to Fry's? (BTW, I'm a tech ***** - MANY years ago was in support, but I got old while the computers changed.....)

Go through the Services and applications and set the ones you don't use a lot to manual start up. Make sure you know what each one does before changing anything. Google is your friend in this endeavor.
