None and Any. Anything you can buy now under $80 is going to be as good as the next. Look for storage space and warranty.

HDDs are old, stable, and consistent technology. Any brand you buy is going to be fine. Most new drives come with a 5 yr warranty against failure. Save your receipt.

    3 most common
    Western digital
    Seagate
    Maxtor owned now by Seagate

I would opt for Seagate first ,but these days failure rates have increased
so maybe a retail WD then Seagate then Maxtor.
    heat is killer
    keep them cool
