Hi All,,, for some reason I have started to receive this pop-up Window
during the boot-up process. I'm running a Gateway with Win-xp Media Edition.
I have to "click" the Cancel button about 9 times before it goes away and
I think it is affecting other apps as well. Here is what the Pop-up Window
says... "Windows Installer

"The Feature you are trying to use is on a Cd-Rom or other
removable disk that is not available. Insert the PhotoGallery disk
and click OK".

Well I don't have a PhotoGallery disk, never did that I can recall.
I tried to do a system search in Files and Folders for PhotoGallery(one word) Not Found.
I tried looking at Add Remove programs for Windows Installer its not there.
I also tried searching in Files and Folders for "Windows Installer" no hits either. Any Ideas on how to respond to this pop-up window??..Ron

Not very helpful

While a virus is not suspected, the Windows Security forum may be the best forum for help with this problem. HJT and CCleaner tools are frequently used to remove clutter that affects Windows Startup.

'regedit' and 'msconfig' can confirm the source for the invoking of PhotoGallery. It could be something as innocent as opening a graphic file type that has been registered to PhotoGallery.

PhotoGallery could have come bundled with a printer suite or some other recently installed application. If the installation failed, it is possible that some re-run keys were added to the Windows registry which are encounter with each restart.

You could try doing a system restore to a time just before you began experiencing this problem. You need to be mindful of any new applications that were installed after the chosen restore point.

Thank you for the feed back RG6647

Thanks for the hint's on my PhotoGallery pop up window.. I do have an
HP printer 1610 "all in one" that I had to "Re-Insall" the software for that
may be the cause of that window that keeps coming up. The next I reboot
or power up the PC I stick in the HP Cd and see if it finds what its looking for.

I may also repost my problem as you suggested on the Windows Security
forum...thanks again...I'll let you know if the HP Cd solves the problem...

Ron

HP software is a virus in itself. YUK! My PSC1510 does the same, all because i probably plugged it back into a different usb port. Now even when i try them all it asks for the disk. Friggin HP! Grrrrrr!!!!

Glad you sorted yours though :)

I put the HP **** in and it Solved the Problem!! finally

Yup I'm all cured now!! no more HP Pop-up screens asking for the Disk
via Windows - Installer. I waited for the Windows installer to pop-up just
after I clicked on a Video(thats when it always came up) and I popped the HP Disk into my Drive "E", browsed to the folder that had the .msi file
it was looking for and bingo it shut its mouth.!!

Score one for me!! thanks for all of the calloboration....Ron
