I was wondering if someone would give me list of good things to look for in a TFT, e.g. response time, dot pitch, brightness.

Im looking for a 17" for gaming at the moment.

    Cheers,

    Alex

You want more contrast and brightness. Response times are pretty insignificant with modern panels, but in general you want something with less.

For gaming you want low response times, I'd suggest 8ms or lower to reduce ghosting. You also want one with a "dvi" input, if your pc has a dvi output(usually a white monitor port). Most lcds can put out enough brightness, many even need to be turned down from standard settings to look normal. Also look for lcds that can do 16.7million colors vs "only" 16.2million.
    Maybe one like this.
