What to do to improve laptop performance

Hi, I'm not an expert with computers. I'm running a windows 8 laptop that's almost 2 1/2 years old, I mainly listen to music and browse web/play games on off through out the day on it. I don't do any high end gaming on though I do play modern 3d games like FFXIV, Ultra Street Fighter IV and Counterstrike: GO. I've noticed it get a bit slower over the years and I know that's normal, but I'm sure something can be done software/file side to improve things. What tasks should I perform other than defrag and cleaning registry to increase performance? What can I do every week to maintain it better?

Start->search CLEANMGR
safe to run any time you like to remove temp files create when surfing.
Always run it prior to defrag to speed up the task.

In your favorite browser, clear history, cache, cookies

You better clean up your system from time to time and install apps that could help you make it easier. Its very enjoyable to explore on things.

Hey simple process to follow just perform disk cleanup task and refreshment disk in month and always check temporary files and recycle bin to clean.
also check all install program if you don't find any software suitable can un install it
