  1. It seems that no matter how much cutting-edge technology you own, there’s always something new being released that’s worthy of your hard-earned cash.

    Right now, tech fans with deep pockets could be tempted to splash out on a VR headset from HTC or Oculus. Maybe you’ve decided to save up for the iPhone 7 or Galaxy Note 6. Or perhaps, like me, you’re frantically trying to get some money together in time for the release of Nvidia’s GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics cards.

    Yes, the latest technology rarely comes cheap, but you tend to get what you pay for. So, for this week’s Weekend Open Forum, we’re asking what’s the next big tech purchase you intend to make. Whether it’s a new TV, PC component, smartphone, or other pricey electronic device, we want to know about it.

    Tech fans with deep pockets are upgrading their Tesla Model S. VR-s are for the common masses, fairly cheap.

    Another Twin Engine Beechcraft King Air with the Pro Line Fusion Avionics Suite. Only have about 10 more years I can hold my license so I'm going to have fun!

    Probably a Polaris graphics card and a new monitor, probably 27 inch with freesync and either 2k or 4k resolution..

    Right now? Nothing. I have a capable PC, and never really cared for the latest and greatest.

    GTX 1070 and Corsair K65 Rapidfire RGB w/MX speed switches.
    After that, Kaby Lake or Cannonlake platform and M.2 SSD.

    Part of me wants to hold out for the 1080ti, the other part of me is tired of gaming on a gtx 680.

    The Witcher 3 has my system on it's knees. Looking to get a GTX 1070 as soon as they are available.

    I'm tempted to get one just to have a play and benchmark. Word is that the Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming version (dual 8-pin) is capable of boosting to 2400MHz core speed. It might be worth the outlay just to see those numbers in some benchmark results.

    Hopefully I can get a 1080 when it launches in 2 weeks. Just in time for The Witcher 3 expansion! Im selling my 780 to a friend for 2 hundy so 400 for a new card is a good deal.

    Been waiting for a good 4K 30+ inch monitor for years but there is still not a good one out that costs a reasonable amount of money.

    currently I have a strix 970 and I am not even going to upgrade because it runs everything on 1080p
    until I get a new 4k monitor I have no reason to upgrade although I want to step up to 4k for years now.

    this year they better come out with some well priced 4k monitors at last

    I want to perform 2 upgrades, not sure which one to go with first:

    1. Motherboard/CPU+cooler/RAM/SSD/Case/PSU => it's about time; I'm still running an i5 760, so I don't even have USB 3.0/PCIe 3.0/SATA 3
    2. GPU+Monitor => This will be something like a GTX 1080 + a 27"/1440p/IPS/144Hz+/G-Sync monitor from Asus or Acer. That's over 1000EUR so it's no joke

    I'm holding out for Zen and Vega and hopefully a good 4K 21:9 monitor with high refresh rates now when we finally have DP1.4. I hope to be able to buy this for myself as a Christmas present.

    Meh the upgrade cycle for desktops has slowed way down for me. Got 3 SSDs, gtx 970, i7 4790k, 27" monitor, there really is no reason to upgrade as Moores law no longer exists. All the focus has shifted to mobile. With that said, I'm looking to snag me a new Note 6 this summer....looks like a beast & a worthy upgrade to my note4

    Actually I just laid out (for me) serious cash on upgrades. So...
    1. I still need a better monitor, still using Dell 2412M (1920 x 1200 IPS). Not sure what yet....
    2. just bought: Asus Z-170 Deluxe, Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 (2 x 8), i7-6700K, Samsung 950 PRO Series M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, 512GB, LG 16x Blu-ray rewriter (BH16NS40), Corsair H110i GTX cpu cooler
    Monitor will be selected in the Fall, right now buying bicycle stuff
    Campagnolo Record/SuperRecord mix groupset already paid for, Campy Shamal Ultra wheels on the way

    Contrary to the media who think the desktop is dead. I plan to build not one but two skylake PC's. One lean and mean small form factor for my wife who likes a clean desk and clean wires. Then a new gaming PC for myself with a couple of NVidia 1080's. I do this every 3 to 4 years. Regardless of the media trying to kill the desktop.

    Already started by big upgrade. Going from Xeon X5660, 24GB ram, GTX470. To Dual E5-2660's, 64GB Ram, Gtx970. Stuffed in a Cosmos II. May get Gtx 1070 and 4K monitor next.
