What's the next big tech purchase you intend to make?

I want to perform 2 upgrades, not sure which one to go with first:

1. Motherboard/CPU+cooler/RAM/SSD/Case/PSU => it's about time; I'm still running an i5 760, so I don't even have USB 3.0/PCIe 3.0/SATA 3
2. GPU+Monitor => This will be something like a GTX 1080 + a 27"/1440p/IPS/144Hz+/G-Sync monitor from Asus or Acer. That's over 1000EUR so it's no joke

That CPU will bottleneck a 1080, so upgrade that first.

A LG PF1000U Ultra short throw projector, but that will have to wait until a few low tech purchases are paid for first.

Holding off on anything big. Pretty satisfied with the current arsenal.

Plus - people don't realize what's on the horizon. Best to save for a while.

Awesome choice! Hope you really enjoy your new cans. What amp did you get with them?
Thanks buddy :) I saw a good deal on slickdeals that came with an iFi Nano-iDSD so I bit. I'm sure there are better amps out there but I wanted to check out how well it drives the HD600's before I further invest in anything else. Are there any you really recommend?

Been waiting for a good 4K 30+ inch monitor for years but there is still not a good one out that costs a reasonable amount of money.

currently I have a strix 970 and I am not even going to upgrade because it runs everything on 1080p
until I get a new 4k monitor I have no reason to upgrade although I want to step up to 4k for years now.

this year they better come out with some well priced 4k monitors at last
I got the Philips 40 inch one. It is great for the money. They now have new model slightly bigger which is even better.

A. single gpu only: either an NVidia gtx 1070 or its amd equivalent. the money is ready, the hardware is not. this will be my last gpu purchase in this decade. (NVidia 9800gt > gtx 650ti > gtx 960 > ??)

B. an entry level Samsung 32"-40" 4k tv for my bedroom as I like to watch tv shows before going to sleep. I am thinking of switching satellite cable provider to another which offers HD contents (dream HD, skycable direct HD, or cignal HD? ). I really liked the Samsung 4k tv on my living room.

C. not really a big tech purchase: a 32GB microsd card since the 64GB microsd card I previously bought is not supported by my cherry mobile android one G1 phone. my bad. ;)

Geez. An i5- or i7-something PC with a 1070 or 1080. That'd be a nice upgrade from running a Core i7 950 and SLI GTX 460s.

Look up the crossover 324k. 32" 4k ahva panel. Above average for gaming and overclockable at 1440. Plus can be found for less than $500

Without a doubt a pascal video card that will have a extreme high bandwith hbm memory on the new slot developed along with IBM. Should do 500fps on ultra with any game no doubt

I ordered a Dell XPS 13 (Core i5 version) with a 500GB SSD upgrade and a USB-C to HDMI / VGA / Ethernet / USB adapter. That's not my next but it's the biggest purchase I'll make for a while.

My next semi-big purchase will likely be a Bristol Ridge + AM4 motherboard + RAM upgrade for the HTPC.

Most probably a pair of 1070's or 1080's. Depending on benchmarks I'll decide which one I get. Not excited for Polaris at all as of yet, however that could change after benchmarks. I'm normally dissappointed by AMD unfortunately. Hopefully this year will be a change

For me personally... GPU + matching display (21:9 something-sync / HDR / 10+bpc) (have had only 1920x1080 displays ever... so it will be big upgrade ... and buying a decent display without proper GPU is also silly).

Or perhaps, like me, you’re frantically trying to get some money together in time for the release of Nvidia’s GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics cards.
Tech fans with deep pockets are upgrading their Tesla Model S. VR-s are for the common masses, fairly cheap.

it always boggles my mind, when supposedly ~4k+$ monthly income people "frantically struggle" to get together 400$ once in a year tops... I mean it shouldn't even be a big problem for a person with 1k$ monthly income to save for their main hobby over the year period. Am I missing something vital here? Is "American Dream" a lie?

I'll get a 1080 Ti when it drops, hopefully it will have 20-30% more cores unlocked than then current version and have HBM 2.0. For now only 2560 cores with GDDR5X just isn't worth it in my opinion.

Part of me wants to hold out for the 1080ti, the other part of me is tired of gaming on a gtx 680.

I'm in the same boat. About a month ago I just about pulled the trigger on the 980ti, but thought I would wait till Q3 and the 1080 as that was the expected release date. Sure am glad I did, now the end of the month seems a long ways off lol.

I will probably upgrade to Kaby Lake later this year and replace my old Core i5 2500k. May wait to see if AMD Zen sucks or not as well.
