when installing DirectX 9 why do i get the error that says it hasnt passed XP logo...

    Why is it that when trying to install DirectX 9.0, i get an error that says it has not passed the Windows XP logo test and the install has failed even though it is Windows XP supported?

    Your antivirus. Antivirus software tends to interfere with installs.

    To correct this issue, first go Start > Run and enter services.msc
    A list of Windows Services should now appear on your screen, scroll down the list until you find Cryptographic Services. Right click this and select properties. Now ensure that the startup type is set to automatic and click the start button in that window if the service status is stopped.

    hasnt passed XP logo...

    which version os DirectX9 are you trying to install, Their MS homepage has version 9b released 7/1/03 which i just downloaded on an in-laws puter installed pretty well, but didn't have the diagnotic tool
