When screen has no signal what's the most common causes?

Have you ever really felt like you wanted to fix something and you weren't able to? Well this is my wall,I've seen this couple of times and I don't know what is causing it.

So What is some various reasons why in a desktop the screen has no signal even though the computer is already on? Is it maybe problem with motherboard?or what it might be?

First thing you do is connect another monitor. If you still get no signal it is the cable if it is detachable, or video card if any or the motherboard... easy to troubleshoot
