Does anyone know why, whenever I'm on the internet for some time I get a dialoge box that reads 'failed to read memory' followed by a numeric code and a warning that internet explorer must shut down????

I would run a spyware scan in safe mode something like ewido may help just download and install the free version, anyway what Antivirus, Firewall, Spyware programs have you got? and are you using XP SP2?

You should install Spywareblaster to block bad ActiveX and be very carefull with
Java Applets. There should be an icon in the Quick Launch box that looks like
a cup of coffee whenever Java is running.
