Does 3dspotlight not build a monthly machine showing prices anymore? I found a link to one and it is showing the AMD 1.33. It was written in 2001.

Thats been there for ages, I used to check there for new guides all the time, like year ago, untill after 6 months nothing was ever done with it, or said about it.

I'm sure this will get updated when the staff get a chance. With the site updates, forums changes and server move there has been a lot going on behind the scenes.

My personal choices for a AMD system would be:
  • Cooler Master ATC-710-GX2 $108 (personal preference)
  • AMD XP Barton 3000+ $600
  • Thermalright SLK-800 $38
  • ThermalTake SmartFan II $17
  • Abit NF7-S nForce2 $120
  • ATI Radeon 9700Pro AIW $420
  • 2x512mb Corsair XMS Cas2 PC3500 2x$177
  • 2x 120GB MaxtorATA133 8mb cache (DiamondMax Plus 9) 2x$139
  • Pioneer DVR-104 DVD-R/RW Drive (BLACK) $203
  • Enermax EG651P-VE 550W PSU $156
  • Logitech MX700 Cordless optical mouse $62
  • Logitech BLACK Elite Keyboard $36
  • Samsung 191T Silver 19" TFT $812 (Response times are starting to make these a viable alternative to CRTs)
    TOTAL: $3202 (~£2000)

Personal choice of an Intel system would be:
  • Cooler Master ATC-710-GX2 $108 (personal preference)
  • Intel P4 3.06Ghz $583
  • Thermalright SLK-800 $38 (or SLK-900 $46 as mounting holes are available)
  • ThermalTake SmartFan II $17
  • Gigabyte GA-8INXP $255
  • ATI Radeon 9700Pro AIW $420
  • 2x512mb Corsair XMS Cas2 PC3500 2x$177
  • 2x 120GB MaxtorATA133 8mb cache (DiamondMax Plus 9) 2x$139
  • Pioneer DVR-104 DVD-R/RW Drive (BLACK) $203
  • Enermax EG651P-VE 550W PSU $156
  • Logitech MX700 Cordless optical mouse $62
  • Logitech BLACK Elite Keyboard $36
  • Samsung 191T Silver 19" TFT $812 (Response times are starting to make these a viable alternative to CRTs)
    TOTAL: $3322 (~£2080)

Of course this is a dream machine where money is no object really ;)
