Although the title is a question, I'm not asking for a fix because I've found this http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/grLEVNi9dfw
I've since removed GC & that XP has been returned to the owner.
I've explained to the users mother she'll have to use Firefox is she needs to download vids from youtube.
The above link is what happened to me yesterday. I had a few tabs open in GC & as I went to open another, it forced the xp to reboot. No warning,no nothing.
I got angry & removed all traces of GC but reinstalled it because the users family thinks there is no better browser.
Thank you.:)

Sounds like you really needed to do a clean install of XP. I have installed Google Chrome on many XP Machines without problems. I use Google Chrome to find technical data and drivers. Google Chrome plays well with other browers too. It is the only browser I use. Your thread title should be " Bad XP install caused Google Chrome to reboot" What antivirus/ anti malware programs were installed?

I don't believe I installed XP incorrectly. It was working perfectly well with out Google Chrome.
The XP mentioned is this one https://www.techspot.com/community/topics/need-help-with-vista-xp-pro.189943/
I was able to merge the I & D drives into the C drive by doing this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...65?msgId=141b5c82-3471-4545-ab53-d1fe4b4a993a
We all have our favorite browsers. Right now my favorite browser is Firefox. I've had Google chrome on other pc's.
If I remember correctly, I installed XP Pro on that pc a total of 4 times. It has been back with its previous owner for a few days now. What she does with it is out of my hands.
If she don't learn from her past mistakes, its her problem, not mine.

If you did a "clean" install that's good. If you didn't do a "clean" install XP tends to become more cruddy than Windows 7 over the same time period. If I remember correctly, you also prefer to use "cleaning" tools that can add to problems that arise...
