Im jus wondering what the gain in performance would be,or if thare is any. Like if i have two 256meg sticks in dual mode or one 512meg stick in regular mode.
Is dual channel better? if so why?
keeping in mind more than 512meg would be overkill in my use of my PC.
    Just wondering
    thanks all

Running your memory in DualChannel mode on a K7 platform will account at most in a 3-5% performance increase & only in memory intensive tasks.

If you can get that little extra performance for free, go for it. If you have to shell out some more money for it, it is not worth it.

The DualChannel memory controller on the nForce 2 platform was concieved to help keep all the integrated devices (VGA, Ethernet, SOund, IDE, etc.) fed with data without having to tax the memory bandwidth allocated to the CPU.

Dual channel is a marketing gimic..it might help 1 to3 percent in most cases..but not much of a real world gain.
