Widespread reports of Sony Vaio notebook Wi-Fi issues

My Vaio drops the wi-fi connection every few minutes - impossible to use the internet.

I bought 15 days ago - all the guys at Best Buy said that this issue was fixed - but it is not!!

Got all the problems listed (desconnections and slow wi-fi).
Have anyone heard a thing from SONY??

So my advice: #dontbuyavaio

I just got this beautiful laptop yesterday, and now I am having the same wireless problem!! it is so frustrating. called the sony service, they said will send me a wireless adapter.. is there anyone use that wireless adapter before? should I just return the laptop? but it is really beautiful from the outside and it is slim :( if I change the wireless card inside to the inter Centrino 6235 model , will that work perfectly??
can anyone reply me about this??

They sent me the wireless adapter and it was a great quality Belkin adapter. I actually updated mine yesterday and, fingers crossed, my wireless connection has come back, shame I was about to ask for a refund to get another brand / desktop instead, doubt I'd get one now that its working!

The same is occurring here in Brazil. As was to be expected!
I have a Vaio Fit SVF15213CBW I'm TRYING to use for work. Initially I did not notice this error because it was connected to my desktop via cable, but a few months I'm trying to use it on wi-fi. The problem is that as I work with him I can not help 30-50 days which was what allowed here in my town asked. A shame. I am very disappointed with Sony and I hope a solution soon. Thank you Friends. A hug here from Brazil!

Same issue here in Croatia. I've bought Vaio for work, it's beautiful, has a great sound, but wireless doesn't work well. I returned it, it's been tested, but it turned out everything is fine.. but it's not. I'm very dissappointed and completely sure I never buy Sony product ever again.

I replace the Broadcom with the intel centrino advanced-n 6235. It's an easy and cheap replacement and works perfectly!

(also check if the OneDrive application is not using all of your bandwith, kill this application to make sure this is not a cause of any network issues you have)

Simply horrified to see those early comments going back to September 2013!!! Based in Ireland and very frustrated that my Vaio is back from being "repaired" after 3 weeks away... and STILL the internet drops. I am out of patience. Might just throw it through the window. Yet again, a full refund sounds good! I don't like Apple though. Back to my cave!

Just back from the shop to bring back the Vaio. Despite explaining the problem and offering a solution as giving by the guest just above, I don't think that I will get satisfaction. There is even a Facebook page about this https://www.facebook.com/SonyVaioFit . I am not the one who set it up. It could be an idea to share it to get Sony's attention??? Please can you like it and share it. Fed up me.

I'm the guest from above ;) ....I can promise you the Intel solution works. I've had no problems since I replaced the Broadcom card (running it against a wifi n router)

still, Sony makes a huge mistake not helping it's customers with this issue....

I'm mad as hell. Just bought this laptop a couple of months ago and from the very beginning it was obvious the wireless connection was terrible. All my devices, phone, ipad, other laptops have great reception from everywhere in my home except my Vaio laptop. The only way I've been able to solve the problem is to use device manager and disable the on board wireless network adapter and then use one of my 2 USB drives to plug in a Buffalo USB wireless adapter. Works like a charm but it's outrageous that I have to do this on a brand new computer! I'm very disappointed in Sony.

Problem is with antenna location and not with wifi card. Owners with no warranty left can open laptop ,buy some antenna with longer wire and experiment.

Its been 2 weeks and seems to be working for me! didnt have to replace or open anything, also has worked for a few others that I have showed...

- Right click on start menu and go to device manager...
- Find where it says network card, click to open the list.
- Go to the one that is your wireless network adapter
- Right click, and then click on properties..
- In properties go to the power management tab.
- Uncheck " allow computer to turn off this device to save power"
