I got a SATA-300 HDD for a really good deal and want to know if it will work with my motherboard which supports SATA-150. If the 300's will work but just run at 150 that is fine, I just want to know if they will function.

Yes, they will work fine. There is usually a jumper on the HDD to change from 300 to 150 so as to help if from stalling.

I doubt if this will affect you but there are some occasions where a Sata 2 won't be noticed on a Sata 1 supported board. It is rare for this to happen, but I have seen it happen or I would not believe it either.

First in the Olympic Long Jumper.....

WD SATA 2 drives don't have a Jumper to limit them to 150Gbs

Seagate drives come with a factory installed jumper, which limits them to the 150 Gbs (SATA 1 ) standard. They need to have the jumper removed to run at SATA 2 (300 Gbs) standard. In either case, you should likely have to do nothing to have the drive recognized.
