win 2000 pro, backup security updates

Have a really slow dial-up connection and eventually have to reinstall windows which in tales many hours of waiting for downloads to complete ( in the neighborhood of a week or two ).
So I am wondering if it is possible to save these updates,service packs...etc.
without too much of a hassle?

If you have access to broadband at all, or know someone who does, you can make an iso file with all the updates to burn to a disk. http://www.heise-security.co.uk/articles/80682

I just did this today myself so I can bring XP updates to all my relatives on dialup.

I am going to download and try this method as it sounds quite promising.
Have to wait to visit someone with a faster connection than mine ,so it will take a little time.
