Win 98.

  1. Hello,

    I wana set my old 98 computer up to get some stuff of it, but the internet doesnt work when i put my ethernet cord (Its not plug and play like Win XP) can.

    How do I set up broadband on win 98?

    More to the point what happens when you plug in the cord,

    Things to check,

    How is the internet given to the PC? ICS , Router , Cable Modem other

    click start > Run >winipcfg> enter, what IP address do you have ?

    Go into network properties and see if the network card is listed.

    Has it worked before.

    Is the network card known to be working.

    Is the card Plug and Play, is it a PCI or ISA card,

    Is the BIOS set to plug and play = yes

    Answer these questions and we may be able to give you an idea where to start..
