Win XP stand-by mode problem

    I can't stand-by in winXP.

    What could I be doing wrong: when I choose stand-by in winXP, my computer appears to go to stand-by and goes to the log-on screen but the harddrive doesn't power down.

    Have you tried the "Power management" options in control panel ?

    Also check your BIOS settings, some have settings for letting hard drives go into sleep mode.
