I have a Win2k white box. It has been working with no problems for at least the last 4 months. Now, when I chose "shutdown" the system goes through normal routine, shuts down for about 4-5 seconds then powers up.

I also tried holding the power button in for several seconds until it powers off. Again, after 4-5 seconds it powers on. I had to unplug the pc to power off.

What is this? M/B, P/S, APM, etc...???

Have you made any change to your system-files lately? Like ACPI settings?

Also, what ServicePack-level do you have?

No changes to ACPI, just looked at settings in bios after the fact.
Currently running Win2k SP4.

Your Userprofile may not unload properly, which could cause this.
Check in your Application Eventlog for Error 1000 from Userenv to see if this applies.

I applied the patch and my PC now shuts down in seconds and stays down.

I replaced the power supply and so far so good.
