So I had a problem with F-secure online scanner. After clicking I have read and accepted the license terms, there was no option like Quick scan just the start button. There was no step 3 too. It just asked me to restart the computer so I did. Scan then continued. There was no next button or full report button at all. Just a window appeared that scan was successfully completed and harmful items (1) were removed from the computer, particularly Suspicious: W32/Malware!Online. That was it.

Update Adobe Reader

You can download it from https://www.techspot.com/downloads/2083-adobe-reader-dc.html
After installing the latest Adobe Reader, uninstall all previous versions (if present).
Note. If you already have Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition installed or do not wish to have it installed UNcheck the box which says Also Download Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition.

Alternatively, you can uninstall Adobe Reader (33.5 MB) and install one of two free alternatives:

- Foxit PDF Reader(3.5MB) from HERE.
It's a much smaller file to download and uses a lot less resources than Adobe Reader.
Note: When installing FoxitReader, make sure to UN-check any pre-checked toolbar, or any other garbage.

- PDF-XChange Viewer: http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer

redtarget.gif
1. Update your Java version here: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

Note 1: UNCHECK any pre-checked toolbar and/or software offered with the Java update. The pre-checked toolbars/software are not part of the Java update.

Note 2: The Java Quick Starter (JQS.exe) adds a service to improve the initial startup time of Java applets and applications. If you don't want to run another extra service, go to Start > Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Miscellaneous and uncheck the box for Java Quick Starter. Click OK and restart your computer.

2. Now, we need to remove old Java version and its remnants...

Download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it.
  • Run JavaRa.exe (Vista and 7 users! Right click on JavaRa.exe, click Run As Administrator), pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
  • Accept any prompts.
  • Do NOT post JavaRa log.

============================================

Your computer is clean

1. We need to reset system restore to prevent your computer from being accidentally reinfected by using some old restore point(s). We'll create fresh, clean restore point, using following OTL script:

Run OTL

  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following:

Code:
:OTL
:Commands
[purity]
[emptytemp]
[EMPTYFLASH]
[emptyjava]
[CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS]
[Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
  • Post resulting log.

2. Now, we'll remove all tools, we used during our cleaning process

Clean up with OTL:

  • Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
  • Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
  • On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
  • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

If you still have any tools or logs leftover on your computer you can go ahead and delete those off of your computer now.

3. Make sure Windows Updates are current.

4. If any trojans, rootkits or bootkits were listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

5. Check if your browser plugins are up to date.
Firefox - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
other browsers: https://browsercheck.qualys.com/ (click on "Launch a quick scan now" link)

6. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

7. Run Malwarebytes "Quick scan" once in a while to assure safety of your computer.

8. Run Temporary File Cleaner (TFC) weekly.

9. Download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI): https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4898-secunia-personal-software-inspector-psi.html. The Secunia PSI is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Run it weekly.

10. (optional) If you want to keep all your programs up to date, download and install FileHippo Update Checker.
The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases.

11. (Windows XP only) Run defrag at your convenience.

12. When installing\updating ANY program, make sure you always select "Custom " installation, so you can UN-check any possible "drive-by-install" (foistware), like toolbars etc., which may try to install along with the legitimate program. Do NOT click "Next" button without looking at any given page.

13. Read:
How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html

Hi Broni. So all done :). You are a SUPERHERO!!!(y) My comp is doing well. Which of the tools that I've downloaded should I keep? There is still Rouge killer, JRT, adw cleaner, security check and fss on my desktop. I do download files via torrent  . Eset 6 usually denies access to the site which is infected straightaway so I can't open it even if I wanted to. Last time a window appeared with potential thread but I clicked open and I got this trojan (I know, silly me! I should have trusted ESET!) Do I need any of tools ([FONT=helvetica] [/FONT][FONT=helvetica]BitDefender Traffic Light[/FONT][FONT=helvetica], [/FONT][FONT=helvetica]Norton Safe Web[/FONT][FONT=helvetica], or [/FONT][FONT=helvetica][FONT=helvetica]McAfee SiteAdvisor[/FONT][/FONT]) mentioned in the link you have sent me? One more thing (it is off-topic though). After I start up my comp, there is a notification that device driver software was not successfully installed. It started appearing after the last system recovery. Thanks for everything. You r a great person :). Bless you

Good news :)

Regarding tools used...find all info below.

If you deal with torrents do not depend on automatic Eset detection.
Scan every downloaded file manually before you do anything with it.

there is a notification that device driver software was not successfully installed
What's the EXACT message?

Hi :)

Thanks for help. The msg is as I wrote...nothing more. It is like a windows notification in the right down corner when the comp is starting up after the desk top is on. (it's been happening for a year now,...never caused any problems, but I'm just wondering how to fix it). And today I had a trouble to run all of my players (VLC, Open subtitle and even Windows Media player - I know I've got too many). They just got stuck, kept loading and were not responding at all (never had problems with them though). With no chance to close them (for 20 min), so I had to restart my computer with force close of them. Then I started my comp again after few hours and they were running smoothly (maybe it was just one off). I'd like to have just one DECENT player which plays everything...like dvds from different region e.g America. Any suggestions which one is good and play any kind of movies and dvds? And one more thing :( I have a problem with loading one page www.gumtree.com/london. I know it sounds silly but it is the easiest way to find a job and it is just showing a window saying: Something went wrong while we were trying to serve this page and now we can't give it to you.
Please try again and if the problem persists, don't worry: we've been notified and will be rushing to fix it.
BUT it is running on comps of my friends without any problems. It started on Friday. I can load the page, but when I try to do some search, this window appears. On my phone it runs ok. Any suggestions? Thanks again. You are not going to get rid of me so easily :p Sorry for troubles

I use VLC, which plays anything for me.

That web page loads fine for me. Did you try different browser?

As for the error try this...

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista/7), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista/7).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all
IMPORTANT! In case of laptop, make sure, you do NOT disable any keyboard, or touchpad entries.

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Same problem?

Hi :).
The page is running with Mozilla Firefox. I uninstalled Google chrome and installed it again. The same problem. The page just doesn't work. Weird. About the error - I tried what you said, but it is the same. The notification (after opening :) ) says:

Device driver was not successfully installed
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2939 No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2935 No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 293C No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 293A No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2934 No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2936 No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2937 No driver found
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2938 No driver found

About the tools - Should I keep just Malwarebytes and TFC then?

Thanks a lot! :)

redtarget.gif
Go back to "msconfig" and reverse all changes you just made.
Go to your computer manufacturer site, download and install chipset driver.
See if that helps with the error.

redtarget.gif
Reinstall Chrome...

  • Close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  • Go to the Start menu > Control Panel. (Windows 8 users: Learn how to access the Control Panel)
  • Click Programs and Features.
  • Double-click Google Chrome.
  • Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog. Delete your user profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history, by selecting the "Also delete your browsing data" checkbox.
Install fresh copy.
See if you can access that site.

redtarget.gif
I'll answer your last question when we're done with those other issues.

Hi :). All sorted!!! The page is working and the notification about device driver software hasn't appeared again. Wow! You are a genius! Thanks a lot. My Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free trial will expire in 5 days :(. Is there any free version of it? I'll buy a full version, but need to get a job first. Thanks

Well. The notification appeared again :( (my comp is taking the piss :)). There were 3 drivers to download - Intel Management Engine Interface Driver, Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver and Intel Chipset Installation Utility. So I tried to install all. First 2 were too advanced for my comp :)D). Third one was downloaded and installed and seemed to be ok. I restarted the comp few times after installation as there were some updates that required restart and the notification didn't appear. But when I started my comp after few hours the window appeared again. Any suggestion? The comp is Compaq Presario CQ62 220SA. Many thanks

Hi :)

So it detected only graphic driver out-dated, but the others were up to date. The notification just keeps appearing. Is there any possibility that I've deleted it by mistake? Coz I've a feeling that I have.

At this point....

In this forum, we make sure, your computer is free of malware and your computer is clean :)
Because the access to malware forum is very limited, your best option is to create new topic about your current issue, at Windows section.
You'll get more attention.

Good luck!

Hi Broni :). You are right. As far as it doesn't cause any problems I leave it as it is. Thanks a lot for your time and help. You are incredible :). What about those tools?
