    I'm working on a computer right now. 333MHz, 256MB RAM, Win98.
I installed some updates on it (including Directx 9.0). When it boots, every now and again, it'll go to a black screen and stop. I think it may be the DX9.0 BUT I also uninstalled an ethernet card just before this happened. I can't be sure if it's the DX or lack of ethernet card. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Tecspot!
Directx 9 has some hardware requirements.Does your Video card/onboard ,support Ver 9 ?
You can check at the web of the manufacturer.Next check the version of your drivers for a valid update version.
