Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help with a problem I'm having on my dad's computer. WebRoot SpySweeper is installed and it keeps saying that there is an adware that needs to be taken off: WinAntiVirus Pro. When it quarantines the file, Mcafee Security Center says that the internet security has been disabled, and the fix utility does nothing. When the adware is restored, the problem with Mcafee goes away. Whenever the computer is restarted, SpySweeper always runs a quick scan during boot up, and will eliminate any adware it sees, so when that happens, there's no way to fix Mcafee security center unless you just reinstall it......and then SpySweeper once again says that WinAntiVirus Pro adware is on it again and needs to be taken off! any suggestions? Thanks!

I have moved your thread to the correct forum.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

winantivirus

Close control panel.

Run a full system scan with SpySweeper and delete whatever it finds.

Run a full system scan with your antivirus programme and delete whatever it finds.

Then search your system for winantivirus and delete all files found.

Reboot into normal mode, turn system restore back on and rehide your protected OS files.

Then, go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT and Ewido logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Regards Howard :)
