Windows 10 is the name of Microsoft's next-generation operating system

What if I don't want to turn off the tiles and can appreciate the direction they are going in this regard. But instead want to turn off all the ugly multi-color background behind them. What is so hard about giving us the ability to paint or unpaint the UI as we see fit?
one thing at a time. since they are having such short release cycles I'm sure we'll see improvements latter on. right now, as far as I know, there is some form of customization. I'm just waiting for them to release it for download today so I can test it myself.

God I have to learn to stop reading the comments on this site. What is with people? The OS looks great, it has a modern look and great functionality for mouse and keyboard users as well as Touch. It seems to me, that anything Microsoft puts out, most of the commenters here are just going to complain. Who the heck really cares about the numbering? This OS is in it's developmental infancy still but promises to be the most powerful version of Windows ever released. Seems to me that too many people are stuck in the 90s with what they want. "waa, I don't like the metro icons on the start menu" you don't like them, don't put them there! If anyone really thinks for a second that those are mandatory, then the ignorance issue here is a lot worse than I thought.
What I see with this version of Windows, is a nice, attractive, clean interface that will work as good on my desktop as it will on my server, laptop or tablet. Great Features like native iso and vhd mounting (Thanks Windows 8), Virtual Desktops much like Microsoft's own sysinternals Desktops.exe (people can stop crediting mac OS), fantastic multi tasking (snapping up to 4 is great), enterprise management, and awesome search capabilities.
Don't like it? Stop complaining and use something else. I would expect a website of technology enthusiasts would be excited to at least give it a try before judging. Slap the preview on a VM and actually use it before you have the right to complain

I'm actually optimistic about this. Lots of time to develop and they are actually soliciting user's experiences as they use the technical preview. Still not into 'the Cloud' and the Microsoft Store and it all linked with a MS account tied to your computer, but the OS itself could be quite good
It doesn't bother you that M$ is going for, "Apple Zen"? In which the OS, the M$ Cloud, the M$ App store, and the user's wallet are all one?
That is a nice summation of exactly what I don't like about Microsoft, hopefully you can still use a 'local account' and get things done

Nicely put. I was going to reply or post but my comments would have surely offended some. You've got to admit though, the MS haters or Windows crybabies on this site are comical at times with their rants. Ops, I guess I'm going to offend someone anyways.

I will add one more thing - who ever said you need a MS account, must save your files to the MS Cloud or use the MS Store to install software on a Windows 8+ PC? None of that is true which just points out the ignorance of some of these posters.

You really didn't invest enough time or energy into your post to offend anybody, at least not me.

They have to boil frogs slowly. You know that right?
