hello, I have just got myself a new cpu (amd athlon 64x 6000+, Nvidia 8800 gtx,
2 GB ram, 2x160GB SATA Hard Drives, And currentyl windows xp home) and i was thinking of upgrading to vista...but i am weary of the problems that i may have, i would like anyones suggestions on whether or not i should upgrade.(unless you could tell me if i could get DX10 on my cpu with windows xp, because that is my main reason for wanting vista) thank you.

The Nvidia 8800 GTX is DX10 compliant. I think your computer has plenty of resources to run windows Vista. I never recommend an operating system to someone for at least 2 years of its release so all the bugs can be fixed. I'd split two partitions. One for Vista and the other for XP. Vista so you can play around with it, test its features. Considering it's nowhere a fast or secure OS as of yet I wouldn't use it as your CORE operating system.

Here is a link to the discussion about Vista so you can get a more of a general statistic about how people feel about the OS.
