Windows Freezes

    Recently just installed windows xp professional onto a computer AMD 3000+ 512 RAM 200 GIG IDE HDD onboard vid.

    This computer was working about 3 months ago but of recent when i turn the computer on it will not load then i need to restart about 6 times and it will start working any help ne one?

    The new problem this morn was I turned on loads past xp logo, I click on my username to sign in begins to think about signing in the a lightish blue screen with a few patches of colour appear on the screen and that is all it does.
