I have Windows 8.1 Pro on my 2009 PC and Windows 8.1 on my new PC. Will both PCs be running the same Windows 10 edition after installing the free upgrade?
As far as I know, your 2009 PC should end up with "Windows 10 Pro" and the new PC should end up with "Windows 10 Home" or something similar. Windows 10 Home is the edition that the technical preview gives me if I upgrade from Windows 8.1 with Bing. I don't know about the core edition of Windows 8.1 though.I have Windows 8.1 Pro on my 2009 PC and Windows 8.1 on my new PC. Thanks. That should be plenty of time for most. For a year. After that, it becomes invalid and you have to purchase 10.
Thanks Julio. Even though M$ is still quite vague it does help explain things better.Microsoft hasn't made it clear how they will validate this, but the answer should be yes, you can do a clean install and get Windows 10 free.
you are talking as if that's a problem. you do exactly the same with current systems, all you have to do is backup your cd-key.You upgrade for free to Win 10 then after a year your hard drive crashes. How do you get Win 10 back?
