Windows ME shutdown

    This is a new twist on an old problem for me, I have someone who is having problems with ME not shutting down sometimes.

    The twist is that it doesn't stop at the Windows closing down splash screen but instead the splash screen doesn't appear but the screen goes blank but the fans and lights remain lit. However if you hit the Esc key it will then close down.

    Any suggestions as to what may be going on here.
