Windows Media Player 10

My PC is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 2. I use Windows Media Player 10.00.00.4036 for burning audio CDs. Last time when I inserted a blank CD to be burnt, a message was displayed on the right hand side panel saying "There are no items on the CD" and burning process stopped. I really don't know what seems to be the problem. Aren't blank recordable CDs supposed to have no items on them ?! What is wrong ? Thanks.

That sounds more like the Autoplay is checking the disc and saying nothing to do.

Open tray, insert cd, hold shift key, close tray while holding shift key until the drive light stops blinking.

Then try a burn.

Or, just disable Autoplay.
